Travel to the 4th International Conference on Annexins
September 30 – October 4, 2007
Avalon, Catalina Island, California
Note: Catalina Island, as the name suggests, cannot be reached by car/taxi. Ferry service (1–1.5 hours) is the most economical way (~$60 roundtrip), a chartered chopper (15 minutes) will run you upwards of $160. At your own risk: Swimming the 20+ miles takes from 10 hours upwardsÉ
Ferries leave from various ports in the greater Los Angeles area to Avalon (Catalina Island), but some ports only have a few ferries per week in fall, others have only one ferry a day, so planning ahead is important. The fall schedules are out!
From LAX (Los Angeles International Airport):
From SNA (a.k.a. Orange County, or, far more embarrassingly, John Wayne Airport):
There are also package deals for shuttles to&from most of the local airports WITH roundtrip ferry at http://www.karmel.com/catalina.html
The conference will begin with dinner at 6pm on 30 September 2007.
The conference ends after breakfast on 4 October 2007.
Looks like Volker & Annette missed the last ferryÉ.
